Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
