Highlighted Choice

This Satirical Thriller

The filmmaker's unflinching commentary addresses the tyranny of feminine aesthetics as well as the perceived horrors of advancing years. Hollywood star Demi Moore presents a brilliant performance as Elisabeth, a mature actress reduced to starring in an aerobics show on television. Pushed out due to her deceitful superior Harvey, played by Dennis Quaid, she turns to an enigmatic and terrifying procedure called "The Substance". This generates a younger clone called Sue, resulting in a progressively parasitic dynamic between them. October 17th, Paramount Plus

The Woman in Cabin 10 Film

This suspenseful story stars Knightley in the role of Laura, a skilled journalist who takes a hiatus from reporting on global conflict to embark on a high-end voyage alongside a gravely sick Scandinavian billionaire and charitable figure, her husband, as well as other affluent guests. However when an enigmatic female goes overboard one night and everyone denies she ever existed, her journalistic curiosity awaken. Streaming currently, on Netflix

This Supernatural Story

Steven Soderbergh tests his directorial skills in this nifty supernatural story shot entirely from the perspective of the spirit. After a clan featuring mother Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe occupies their fresh home, the lens – AKA the Presence – shadows their actions. Chloe seems sensing the poltergeist, and the entity appears protective of her. However, the motive remains? The premise is enjoyable that avoids overstaying, with a twist you might not see coming. This Saturday, multiple showings, Sky Cinema Premiere

This Self-Referential Film

Cage embraces his eccentric image in this meta comedy caper. He plays an egotistical film star called Nicolas Cage who agrees to a $1m payday to appear at a festive event at a Mediterranean location for billionaire superfan Javi. Hired by the CIA to spy on the suspected cartel boss, his “nouveau shamanic acting ability” proves useful. This Saturday, prime time, Channel 4

The Black Phone

Scott Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller remains effective despite the lack of a continuation. Set in the late 70s in Denver, a series of child abductions has made the local kids on edge. When Finney is kidnapped by the villain and imprisoned in a dungeon, he fears a terrible outcome. However, the disconnected phone in the room continues to ring, with eerie communicators offering help, while the intuitive nightmares of Gwen, his sister could save him. A genuinely scary movie. Saturday 11 October, 10.50pm, Film4

The Tammy Faye Biopic

In the conflict between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for greed in this director's wonderfully garish true story about the fallen religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. The actor portrays the corrupt Bakker, who declares at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. The couple begin profiting from the American public's religious faith. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, overdone appearance and insincerity, however Chastain achieves to show the character in a likable light. October 14th, late night, the Film4 channel

Black Bag

This period's second offering from the filmmaker is a espionage tale as sharp like the turtlenecks worn by Michael Fassbender's UK spy. His assignment is to identify a double agent among the team out of five possibilities – among them is his spouse. Each performer are experts of understated style, so a delicious mental battle of deception or honesty develops. Additional actors participate the clever spy entertainment. Friday 17 October, 8.05am, 12.55pm, 8pm, Sky Cinema Premiere
