Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a difficult season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
